Paul W. O’Connor, Partner, PwC appointed as President of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce

Paul W. O’Connor will take over the role from Peter O’Shea, Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs, ESB. The Chamber also appointed Maree Gallagher, Of Counsel, Covington & Burling as its new Vice President.

On accepting his new role, Paul W. O’Connor said:

“The last year has been the most challenging period for companies with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on business and people. For our members this has been against the backdrop of the EU/UK negotiations on a future trading relationship and the uncertainty on a landing point. We hope that with political will and impetus an agreement can be found, even at this late stage.

Regardless of the outcome, trade will continue between our economies and the Chamber will work to support business and to provide an informed and considered opinion to our two Governments. We urge businesses to double down on efforts to ensure that they are ready to respond to the new situation that will apply in 2021 for UK/Irish trade.

I look forward to working with our Board, Director General and his Executive Team to continue the important role that we occupy in providing guidance and insight, so that business can continue to evolve and develop.”
